Shop like the Duchess of Cambridge: Harvey Nichols

Last month we showed you the delights of one of London’s most iconic department stores – and this month, we’re visiting another! Although perhaps not as well known as some of its more famous cousins, Harvey Nichols is still a British shopping institution, and a great place to visit for any fan of the Duchess of Cambridge. Catherine was recently spotted visiting the store, where she lingered over the makeup and skincare selections. In fact, it was reported that she purchased the Super Restorative Total Eye Concentrate from Clarins there!

One aspect of Harvey Nichols that makes it the perfect stop for the Duchess is its proximity to Sloane Street, which is famous for its luxury brands and designer names. A walk down Sloane Street takes you towards Sloane Square and the Peter Jones / John Lewis department store that the Duchess has been seen shopping in, and Sloane Square also connects to King’s Road, another stomping ground for the Middleton women!

Harvey Nichols is a distinguished luxury department store which was founded in 1831, originally as a linen shop. The department store itself was established in 1889, when the building was demolished and redesigned in stages. Apart from its makeup and beauty floors, it also has extensive men and women’s fashion departments, as well as a fantastic food floor, which is complimented by a great restaurant!

Some of the many brands you can pick up from the store include Temperley, Amanda Wakeley, Anya Hindmarch, Barbour, DVF, Erdem, Jimmy Choo, Jonathan Saunders, L.K. Bennett, Max Mara, Mulberry, Orla Kiely, Prada, Ralph Lauren, Roland Mouret, Stella McCartney, Tod’s and Whistles. There’s literally everything a fan of the Duchess could want under one roof, and the carefully curated collections means that the best of each brand is well represented – and we’re sure that Catherine appreciates their editing considering her busy schedule!

The aforementioned restaurant on the fifth floor is a fantastic way to end a shopping trip – and in fact, Princess Diana was a regular client!

You can often find great deals online, and the restaurant also runs special themed dinners and events, where you can choose from a selected menu.

If you’re not based in London, don’t despair! You can get your Harvey Nichols’ fix from their locations in Leeds, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Manchester and Bristol, as well as overseas in Saudi Arabia, Dublin, Hong Kong, and Dubai. You can also shop online – just head to http://www.harveynichols.com/ for their site!
