Many will remember the Royal Tour of Southeast Asia in 2012. It was regarded as a massive success for both William and Catherine and international relations between the United Kingdom and the many Southeast Asian countries they visited. Most notably, the relations between the United Kingdom and Singapore benefited from the events – all thanks to our girl, Kate! (And William, too, I guess…)

The event began at the Royal Garden Hotel, which is conveniently located on the Kensington High Street. Although the President and his wife are staying at Buckingham Palace, the official welcome began at the luxurious 5-Star hotel. The central location was ideal for such an event.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge greeted the President and his wife. During their greetings, Catherine joked that she was glad to be out of the house. Following a brief chat and photographs, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, President Tan, and Mrs. Tan travelled to Horse Guards Parade at Buckingham Palace for the official ceremonial welcome.

This was the first engagement for the Duchess since announcing her pregnancy in August. As with her first pregnancy, she struggled with Hyperemesis Gravidarum – a severe morning sickiness. Today, however, she looked radiant, healthy, and beautiful (although no one was surprised!).

The Duchess of Cambridge wore a sharp grey dress coat by Alexander McQueen and matching hat by Jane Taylor, previously seen at Easter this year. The a-line coat in a grey check print was perfect for the occasion, but eliminated any hope of showing off signs of pregnancy.

She kept to simple accessories, choosing black suede pumps by Prada and Jenny Packham’s black suede “Roxy” clutch with simple pearl drop earrings by Anoushka. She wore her Mappin & Web “Empress” necklace, rumored to be a gift from Prince William. Her hair was elegantly tied back into a knotted ponytail – a welcome change for many royal watchers. Later this evening, the Duchess of Cambridge will attend the Wildlife Photography Awards at London’s Natural History Museum. Check back later for updates!
