#49: Scarlet - Marissa Meyer

Cinder is back and trying to break out of prison—even though she’ll be the Commonwealth’s most wanted fugitive if she does—in this second installment from Marissa Meyer.
Halfway around the world, Scarlet Benoit’s grandmother is missing. It turns out there are many things Scarlet doesn't know about her grandmother, or the grave danger she has lived in her whole life. When Scarlet encounters Wolf, a street fighter who may have information as to her grandmother's whereabouts, she is loath to trust this stranger, but is inexplicably drawn to him, and he to her. As Scarlet and Wolf unravel one mystery, they encounter another when they meet Cinder. Now, all of them must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen Levana.

Marissa Meyer lives near Seattle with her husband and their three cats. She's a fan of most things geeky (Sailor Moon, Firefly, color-coordinating her bookshelf...) and will take any excuse to put on a costume. She may or may not be a cyborg.

REVIEW: This is one of those series where the books get better as you go along. I loved Cinder, but I love-love Scarlet! There were times when pieces of Cinder came together in this book. Even some loose ends I had no clue were even loosened. I also enjoyed finding out the true meaning behind the covers. Really, every little detail came together for me here. I still love Cinder, the character most. She's the kind of kick-ass heroine I really enjoy reading, or even watching. Yeah, I think this series seriously deserves to be the next Hollywood blockbuster. I can't wait to read Cress now. I'm going to have to though, I only won a copy today. Yay, me! If for some strange reason you haven't read this series, I urge you to do so.
