The United Arab Emirates (UAE) celebrates National Day on December 2, and this patriotic occasion is celebrated with great festivity. It's not only the citizens, but the expats who have made UAE their second home, who participate in it's many events across the country. The colours of the UAE flag - red, white, black, and green - are seen everywhere.
We were invited to
Mirdif City Centre in Dubai for one of these celebrations. The mall is commemorating UAE's 43rd National Day with an artistic initiative called
Art of C.
The event has been kicked off with a public art studio in which artists from the
Emirates Fine Arts Society for the Northern Emirates have been invited to paint using different mediums on giant C-shaped canvases. The C represents the City Centre logo as
Art of C has been organised by Majid Al Futtaim's City Centre shopping malls.
The fun part is that people visiting these malls can be part of this artistic celebration! There is a dedicated arts and crafts area for kids where they get small Cs for painting on.
Little Dude was pretty excited to see the paints and couldn't wait to get his hands on them! He got into a cute little apron and I helped him choose the colours of the flag to paint with. The artwork with his name behind it was then displayed for all to see. All the children present had a great time painting their Cs!
The
Art of C workshop will run up to December 1, following which the National Day celebrations will commence with traditional dances, and gifts and treats for visitors.
