Houston Shenanigans | that weekend my heart was whole again

As I sat down to write this, I couldn't help but wish quietly in my head that all of my weekends could be like this past one for many different reasons. Being surrounded my friends that are like family and just spending that time together is always so good for my soul. I walk away even more thankful than before that I have people in my life that make my heart so happy. This weekend was the cream of the crop, the strawberry on top of the cake...whatever you want to call it.

This weekend, Alexa and her husband flew in from Charlotte to stay in Houston for the weekend with Kaitlyn and Andre. I just had to join in on the fun and am so glad that I did. I don't even think I can put into words how wonderful of a weekend it was. From spending time together laughing and catching up, driving around and enjoying the beautiful weather at great little restaurants and even a local brewery, and then celebrating Kaitlyn's birthday...it was just perfection. I truly can't think of any other word than that one. I could write a full 8 pages of each and every little thing we did, but I will sum it up with these pictures and keep those memories close to my heart, just like our very first trip.
reunited at last.
Before heading out for Kaitlyn's birthday with the beautiful Meg Cady
My gorgeous, amazing, precious EDB's. On the first night that they were there, we decided to exchange our presents (although I'm not happy with my mailman for not delivering theirs before I left). To explain our friendship, I have to explain the precious gifts that they gave me. Kaitlyn gave me this beautiful framed print of a camera. The thought of it just sitting in my office right now makes me smile. It is such a meaningful gift and makes me so thankful to have such supportive, amazing women in my life. Kaitlyn is always encouraging me and reminding me in every way that I can do all the things that my little heart wants to. Alexa gave me the beautiful penny with the heart cut out. The meaning behind it brings tears to my eyes even just sitting here with it around my neck. Pennies from heaven are my way of knowing that my dad is not missing a single part of my life. It just so happened the penny she gave me had the year 2012 on it. 2012 was the year I got married, the year I started my blog, and the year that I met the beautiful person that is Alexa.
Never in a million years did I think that starting my blog would in turn allow me to find people who I just adore and who I consider like my family. It's such a different kind of friendship because we are all very different in certain aspects and very alike in others and it just works for us and our little group. I am forever thankful for the small moments that lead me to these people and the friendship that we have formed. Love you friends.

I hope you all had a great weekend and are refreshed and ready for the week ahead. I know that it will be great if I can keep focusing on all of the good things that are going on around me that I tend to take for granted. Happy Tuesday friends.
