My Golden Globes Best Dressed List

Award show season is currently under way. All I really care about is who's frock is being worn or wearing whom and leave the recognition part to the rest of the world.

Though there weren't many "shockers" to me this year, I must admit that I am overall impressed by the sophistication and appropriateness of most of the gowns.

Here are some of my favourites. All images from Vogue, Huffington Post and Daily Mail

When I first saw Emma Watson in Dior my immediate thought was "is she wearing pants under that?" I have nothing against that, definitely cool and different.

Then I saw the back and everything made sense.

I would flip this dress around and wear a black tube body con under neath it all.

This is a great dress that has that playful edge yet a quite elegance that suits her so well.

My next pick is Paula Patton in Charlotte Olympia

I am such a sucker for large ruffly details. A dress like this can over power someone, but Paula definitely wore the dress instead of having the dress wear her.

A good little black dress is a must in anyone's wardrobe. This custom Lanvin is the ultimate little black gown. Emma Roberts looks perfect in this dress perfectly made for her.

I wouldn't mind any of these dress either.

Peplum and lace? Yes and yes please. Leslie Mann's petite frame is perfect for a dress like this.

Of course you can't forgot Sophia Vergara. The drama in this Zac Posen ultra gown matches her rocking figure amazingly,

But deep down I am more of a color girl.

I picked this Narciso Rodriguez especially because how figure flattering it was on Julia Louis Dreyfus. Anything that stopped me in my scrolling tracks is a winner of a dress.

Similar color, but a different feel. Lupita Nyongo's Ralph Lauren cape crusader number is totally on trend.

At first I wasn't so sure about this next dress. It's probably Amber Heard's hair and makeup combo being a little harsh? But upon second inspection, the intricate detailing and the exaggerated slit won me over.

The bejeweled detailing is leading the pack this year, showing up in all types of garments. When pair so seamlessly with a stunner like this, Gucci and Margot Robbie definitely won my heart.

Kate Beckingsale is usually a staple on any best dressed list. Being such a stunner herself, it's hard to mess up with her. That's why I am so happy to see her in this glamorous Zuhair Murad.

The next gown is another metallic pick. Softer, more feminine and tradition stands Michelle Dockery in this Oscar de la Renta number. The subtle hi-low is doing everything for me.

I also really like seeing a more "down to earth" brand representing so well on the red carpet.

Maria Menounos is rocking this fusia BCBG gown. The cut outs, the color and the fit are all perfect on this quintessential peak of spring and summer.

Finally, I want to end this list with a safe and predictable pick. The always effortlessly flawless Kate Blanchette caught my eye first with her Armani Prive gown.

I love the delicate detail of this gown. It looks lighter than air and seems to hug her body in all the right places.

I hope I can graduate to that level of sophistication one day.
