Talking about Air Max (Coop Style)

Maybe not all of you know that there are lots of different Air Max, so let’s try making the ideas clear.

Nike introduced its Air Cushioning Technology in 1979 by embedding Air Cushioning in the midsoles of its running shoes. Eight years later, Nike continued to bring the latest scientific discoveries to footwear but this time paying more attention to design, with the innovative model Air Max shoe designed by Tinker Hatfield.

The most important models are:

1987: AirMax 1

1989: AirMax LIGHT

1990: AirMax 90

1991: AirMax 180 and AirMax BW

1993: AirMax 93

1995: AirMax 95

1997: AirMax 97

2006: AirMax 360

2014: FLYKNIT AIR MAX

And now some curiosities:

-Tinker Hatfield was inspired by the Les Centres George Pompidou in Paris, famous for its “inside out” and for the colors (white, gray and red).

-The shoes were initially advertised in 1987 with a TV campaign that used the Beatles’ song “Revolution”; for the first time a Beatles song had been used in a TV commercial.

-Among the different special editions, in 2002, Japanese retailer Atmos teamed up with Nike to create a unique version of the classic runner.

-The line of sneakers is popular amongst many subcultures, for example Hip Hop, Gabber and Chavs.

-Air Max 1 is the only sneaker with an entire book of Art dedicated to it.

Forse non tutti sapete che ci sono differenti modelli di Air Max, quindi cerchiamo di chiarire le idee.

Nike ha introdotto la sua tecnologia di ammortizzazione nel 1979, grazie all’integrazione Air nelle intersuole delle scarpe da corsa. Otto anni dopo, Nike continua a portare le ultime scoperte scientifiche nell’ambito delle calzature sportive, ma questa volta prestando più attenzione al design, con l’innovativo modello di scarpe Air Max disegnato da Tinker Hatfield.

E ora qualche curiosità:
