printable // project organizer (with bic mark-it color coding!)

I like making confessions, so here's my latest: I like designing organization helps more than actually using them. It's not that I don't like being organized, it's just that I rarely stick to a system for very long. But even though that was a confession, I'm not entirely ashamed of that. Especially because it means I get to make fun things like a printable project organizer to share with you!

The fine folks at Bic gave me a little challenge and asked me to come up with an organizational something that makes use of their Mark-It permanent markers:

With so many beautiful colors, it's hard to imagine that you couldn't find a whole lot of projects to use these on! The pastel tints are my favorites, but every color is pretty great.

This year I've been working my way through a lot of projects and deadlines. I currently have a list of 20 crafty "jobs" that I need to get done, either for my blog, shop, or for others...they all need to be done by the end of the month or sooner...and then I still have more that I need to add to the list! With so many things, I need to be organized.

To that end, I made this project planner, and I kept it fairly open and not too specific. There's a space at the top for a project title, a column on the left for materials/colors/steps (whatever I need to track for that particular project!), and a larger section for notes and sketches. Of course, I wanted it to be "me", so I incorporated a happy floss bobbin. She's there to keep me company, even for non-embroidery ideas!

My Bic Mark-It markers came into play when I started filling in my notes and color coding. I love color coding! I can use one color for patterns, one for projects, one for printables, one for special projects, and so on! I added a spot of color to the floss bobbin and used that same color for hand written notes.

And did I mention that this printable can be filled in with typed notes? Yes indeed! But even though the typing is in black, I can still add some color!

One last thing about these markers (which Bic very kindly sent to me free of charge). Okay, two things. First, the fine points on these are wonderful to work with. They don't feel sharp as you write, but they are fine. Next, they also come in a thicker point, which I owned already. Lastly (I lied...three things!), they have fun color names! Who doesn't love that?

Now, I think it would best for me to get to work on that list of projects. Or maybe I'll just organize and color-code them for a while longer...
