Yeah Aqua Farm! A self-cleaning fish tank that grows food

I was so excited when Uncommon Goods contacted me to do a review. I love their online store, there’s seriously something for everyone on there. They send you everything you need to get your garden and tank set up plus a coupon for a discount on a betta fish at Petco. My little guy is a twintail half moon betta. So cute!

It doesn’t look like much now since I’m still waiting for the seeds to sprout, but I can’t wait to see how it all works once they start growing. The seeds I planted are basil and wheat grass.

I had a hard time understanding the instructions when it came to getting the water to flow past the plant roots so that was the only thing I didn’t like about the whole set up process. But I eventually figured it out. The bottom of the pump tube has to be above the end of the straight clear tube (I had it below the straight tube which is wrong in this picture so it blew bubbles into the tank. You don’t want that. I just pulled it up an inch and then it worked). Then the water is sucked up the tube and goes into the white tray to flow around the plant roots. The tray has drainage holes to allow that water to flow back into the tank.

Here’s a view from the top. The blank circle is a little door to drop fish food into the tank.
