Jill Rappaport Launches Pies 4 Paws
The former TODAY correspondent invites animal lovers to take part in Pies 4 Paws™, with proceeds benefiting shelter and rescue pets. The instructions for participating are as easy as pie!
1) Either take a pie in the face, or eat the delectable dessert.
2) Chronicle your epicurean experience with photos, whether you elected to wear the pie or woof it down.
3) Share the photos on social media, using the hashtag #JillRappaportPies4Paws.
4) Nominate friends to also take the challenge.
5) Make a donation to the animal shelter, rescue group of animal welfare organization of your choice.
News that celebrities who have a hunger for helping animals in need have taken part in the challenge is food for the souls of anyone with a passion for compassion. Since its start Robert Redford, Meredith Vieira, Georgina Bloomberg and Wendy “The Snapple Lady” Kaufman have contributed to the cause, as have a number of high-profile animal welfare organizations including the ASPCA, American Humane Association (which will use donations for its Humane Intervention programs), The Humane Society of the United States, Pilots N Paws and many more.
A proud pet parent to five rescue dogs and seven horses, Jill Rappaport– who highlighted homeless pets through TODAY‘s “Bow to Wow” series, will soon shine a spotlight on Fidos who need forever families in her upcoming series Best in Shelter.
“Take a pie, donate and adopt, it’s the perfect trifecta,” Rappaport stated. “There are eight million companion animals living in shelters and more needs to be done for them to find them forever homes. The first time I heard of the “Ice Bucket Challenge,” I thought, I have to do this for pets in need.”
