Diorskin Nude BB Creme

More often than not, I’ve been disappointed by BB creams that have flooded the beauty market for the past couple of years. They bring the promise of perfect skin with lightweight, breathable coverage, nourishing ingredients but they all somehow fall short of my expectations. There is indeed something seductive about notifying people that you have left the house ‘just wearing BB cream’. It’s liberating in a weird, superficial kind of way! But alas, after trying a few, both high end and more budget buys, I concluded that they just weren’t for me. The coverage always seemed lacking, they didn’t last long and some of them looked downright orange on my skin tone! I had shelved the idea of BB creams as yet another beauty gimmick bandwagon.

However, in a recent Boots haul, I had some points and vouchers to spend and the rave reviews of the Dior BB product were fresh in my mind. So I bit the bullet and shelled out the £30 for the Diorskin Nude BB Creme in 003. As I checked out the items, I prayed that this wouldn’t be an expensive mistake!

“A dream combination of skin care and make-up, Diorskin Nude BB Creme is the new generation complexion enhancer. Its light, melting texture enriched with natural origin skin care ingredients conceals only the undesirable and adjusts perfectly to all skin tones. In a single step, Diorskin Nude BB Creme combines 5 indispensable actions in order to accentuate a fresh complexion with an astoundingly natural finish:

- corrects transparently - lights the skin up with a fresh glow - gently hydrates - instantly smoothes - protects, day after day

For skin as fresh and radiant as a Rose, by Dior.”

I can wholeheartedly say that it definitely wasn’t a mistake. Not even close. If you are a beauty junkie like me then you will be well accustomed to waking up to the excitement of trying a new product. Delicately opening the sparkly new packaging, reading the blurb on the enclosed info leaflets and then tentatively smoothing it onto your skin, hoping that it will be the answer to all of your skin woes for that day.

On first impressions, the consistency of this BB Creme is almost mousse-like, combining a sensation of hydration with a lightweight feel. It glides onto the skin with little effort and once you have blended it with your fingertips (the best application method in my opinion) it melts into the skin, diffusing the light and blurring imperfections. Basically it makes your skin look like skin. A more improved, glowing version of your natural self. It’s undetectable even in close inspection and it’s slightly rosy hue breathes life into a dull complexion. I would say that this has the best coverage I have seen in a BB cream so far…almost verging on being a light foundation-style coverage. I never thought that a BB cream could offer me that scale of skin confidence.

I was extremely impressed with the first application, but I reserved judgement until I had a chance to test it’s staying power. After 8 hours of wear, I took a close look in a mirror to inspect whether it had gone patchy, oxidised to a strange orange hue or simply slid off my face. I was surprised to find that everything looked tickety-boo…my skin looked…well, pretty darn perfect if I’m being straight up with you.

This BB cream is perfect for the following scenarios:

a) It’s a Sunday and you want that ‘no makeup’ look

b) You are someone who prefers very lightweight, breathable coverage that provides a glow

c) You want a multi-tasking product that will care for your skin as you wear it

d) You want a light holiday/summer base

Some people have mentioned that it doesn’t cover bad blemishes – those red, angry ones we all sometimes get. However, it’s worth remembering that any base product is NOT supposed to be used to conceal blemishes. That’s what a concealer is for. Albeit this product works best on those days when your skin is relatively clear, I can say without doubt that it’s the best BB cream I have ever tried and the only one I can get excited about.

Did someone mention they do a tan version for summer… *dashes to nearest Dior counter*.
