Conor’s 4 Month Update

Milestones: There has been a whole lot of rolling around going on this month so it’s about time we have to strap him into his bouncer and make sure he’s never left anywhere unattended where he can roll off from! His legs are getting stronger by the day and he can hold his own weight on his legs with us just holding his hands for a bit of balance. He has been really chatty lately and seems to love interacting with us. If you talk to him he blabbers back like he wants to have a conversation with you! His grip has definitely come along too with him now being able to hold his own bottle for periods of time. He much prefers to be facing outwards in the baby carrier now so he can take everything in. As always he smiles CONSTANTLY!

Sleep: I feel like we’re just beginning to get into some kind of routine with him but there will always be the odd night where he decides he doesn’t want to go to sleep. Most nights he goes to sleep at about 7pm, wakes at 10pm, we got to bed at 10:30pm and it takes about 30 mins to get him fed, settled and asleep. He still wakes up at about 12:30am, 3am, 6am etc. If you’re lucky you might get a night where he sleeps 7 hours straight but that’s certainly not the norm! I would love to get into the bath, feed, story, bed thing but at the moment it’s not that feasible for us. He still sleeps in the co-sleeper cot attached to the side of the bed but we’re now thinking about moving him into his nursery to try and establish more of a routine.

Best Moment: Waking up one morning to find Conor was already awake in the co-sleeper cot staring at me with a huge smile on his face. That is the single BEST thing to wake up to!

Worst Moment: There really hasn’t been any awful moments I can think of…we’ve been blessed with such a happy, good-tempered baby so far!

Health: His health has been perfect for the last month with nothing of not to be honest. The only teeny tiny thing is that he gets a little bit of cradle cap sometimes but we just rub a little natural oil into it and that seems to soothe it. He was a bit snotty for a while a couple of weeks ago but that seemed to pass on it’s own.

Eating: He’s still a hungry boy and annoyingly likes to graze, rather than have a full feed in one sitting so you do find yourself constantly feeding him dribs and drabs. We’ve just started to think about moving him slowly onto solids as I believe you can do that a little sooner with bottle-fed babies. I was recently sent the NutriBaby to test out (from the same company as the NutriBullet) so I’m excited to start using that as it looks really practical and useful. It’s time to start checking out which foods to try him on first!

Things I want to remember: He does this really cute thing when we take him for a walk in the baby carrier…throws his head right back and stares up at the sky and the branches of the trees. He always has a massive smile on his face when he’s doing that. I just love the way babies are so excited by every little wondrous thing the world has to offer…even something as simple as the contrast between the branches of the trees and the blue of the sky.
