Mr. A Wants to Par-tay!

Don’t report me to the corny police for the title.

While I focused my priorities on researching photographers, ceremony rituals, lighting, and table decor, Mr. Angelfish was knee deep in research about food, alcohol, and music. In other words, Mr. A just wants to have an amazing party. Of course I am also interested in making sure our guests enjoy themselves from our hospitality, but Mr. A seemed to hit his wedding-planning groove with the food and entertainment, so I let him have at it!

We were both born and raised in the DC/Maryland area, and we wanted water featured in the wedding, so of course that translated to us as seafood. We have read multiple glowing reviews on Patuxent Greens and their signature fresh seafood, so we are looking forward to trying it out. I chose bacon wrapped scallops for an appetizer, and Mr. A negotiated a “surf ‘n’ turf” option of filet mignon and Maryland crab cakes for the main course.

Mr. A was also able to get the sales manager to throw in a signature cocktail, since we were getting the open bar package anyway. Being the unoriginal and unimaginative person that I am, right now the drink is called “something blue” and it is basically Blue Curacao, vodka, and pineapple juice. Anyone have a cool/fun signature cocktail recipe?

And finally, Mr. A called some of his friendors to supply our music. One of his friends leads a jazz band that plays at our annual charity fundraiser, and Mr. A booked the band to play for our ceremony and dinner. And then his fraternity brother is a DJ, so he graciously offered to play for our cocktail hour and party as a wedding present. The DJ will also be setting up his mic and speakers for the ceremony. Mr. A has already given the DJ a playlist FULL of line dances and party music, so I am hoping after a few “something blues” everyone will be encouraged to dance the night away.

I am pretty proud of Mr. A for taking on these tasks. And I am super impressed that he organized all this with just his cell phone. Usually I need paper/pen, spreadsheets, work computer, laptop, iPad, AND my phone to get everything accomplished; Mr. A did all his wedding tasks through text, email, and a notes app.

Did your FI have his/her own wedding-related tasks? How did s/he choose to get them done?
