Friendor Florist

Hiya, hive! I’ve had an absolutely crazy month of travel and it continues tomorrow as we Crabs head down to South Jersey to celebrate Turkey Day. As always, we have a ton to be thankful for this year and we’re trying to stay calm and continue to diligently check items off our wedding check list!

One of the things I was able to accomplish last week was a final meeting with our florist, Rachel from Church Street Flowers. I’m beyond stoked about our florist for two reasons. First, she and her business partners are incredibly talented floral designers who come up with artful compositions like this.

And second, she’s one of my first friends on earth! We met when we were just tiny toddlers tooling around at Jefferson Daycare Center in Philadelphia. Here we are on the beach in Ocean City, New Jersey back in the day (I can’t even tell you how many times we watched Grease that week).

In my crabby element!

She loves me so much that she’ll be flying in from San Francisco to do the flowers for our wedding, which is on her birthday and I’m ecstatic.

The floral inspiration for the wedding is texture and scale. I’ve shared some inspiration photos with her—we’re thinking soft blush tones for personal flowers and more saturated versions of those colors to pick up the art deco feeling of the reception.

Think: blooming branches in the tall arrangements.

And all kinds of texture in the low arrangements in these fantastically glam metallic vases.

Rachel and her partners are incredibly talented and I’m leaving the exact choices of flowers to her. I am so excited to see how it turns out and it means so much to me that she would come so far to design the flowers for our wedding.

Anyone else have a friendor florist? Were you inspired more by texture than by specific colors or types of flowers?
