Momma just may be watching ... or reading

Last month I had an interesting conversation with a friend. We talked about missing vital clues during the first blush of genealogy research. Linda shared how she missed hints in those early days.

Thinking about this spurred me to backtrack over my records. Guilty! Seems I glossed over some interesting items.

What did I find? My great grandmother, Marie Liska was from Bohemia! On the 1910 United States Federal Census her native language is "Bohemian".

I knew of this heritage on my mother's side of the family. Now on my father's too! That makes me double Bohemian! Is there such a term?

Later that evening I shared my discovery on Facebook. I received posts of congratulations and helpful hints. Lisa Alzo, The Accidental Genealogist, suggested I join the Czechoslovak Genealogical Society International.

After looking at the website I posted "would be a great birthday present!"

The next day my mother did just that! She paid for a two year subscription. This daughter is doing the genealogy happy dance!

Never know when your momma is watching ... or reading.

Thank you, Mom!
