Hoop-La Blog Tour: Shimelle

Today, I have not one but two splendid blog tour guests for you, Shimelle Laine and Alice Partridge. They're both designers, and Alice also works as Shimelle's creative assistant. I was lucky enough to have Alice help out on one of the photoshoots for Hoop-La, so I'm especially thrilled that she and Shimelle were both able to take part in the tour.

NAME: Shimelle Laine & Alice Partridge

BLOG: Shimelle.com

NOTES: Despite the fact I’m not a scrapbooker, Shimelle’s blog is one of my favourite places to go for creative inspiration. As well as sharing beautiful layouts, she offers lots of technique and idea-based posts, many of which can be adapted to work just as well with other types of crafts. I'm also a big fan of Shimelle’s video posts which offer a fascinating insight into her creative process and the design decisions she makes while constructing a layout. She and Alice work together to bring a variety of guest-posters to the blog, which means there are always a range of different styles to be inspired by, along with the chance to discover new designers and blogs to fall in love with.

DON'T MISS: Shimelle’s classes are some of the best on the internet. They cover a diverse range of scrapbook-related topics, from philosophy and photography to writing and blogging, and are remarkably accessible in terms of price. Some are self-paced, while others (like the upcoming Journal Your Christmas) run annually. I especially love the fact that once you’ve paid for an annual class, you get to join in again every year at no extra cost.

THREE FAVOURITE POSTS:

  • Ten Things I Love About London is always going to be a subject that appeals to this London girl’s heart and, with the exception of rain (and possibly public transport), Shimelle’s list is just about perfect.
  • Two Tutorials is a blog series, with tutorials by both Alice and Shimelle. I love this instalment which features a beautiful no-sew collar and an equally-pretty floral layout.
  • If you’ve never watched a Shimelle video before, this post is a great place to start. Think of it as a gateway drug, which may well lead you on to almost 100 scrapbook-video-dilemmas, featuring caped papercraft crusader (and Shimelle’s alter-ego), Glitter Girl.
