I celebrated my fourth year in Portland this August, which means that Content, which is in its fifth year, has been here longer than I have. Events like this are the absolute reason why I moved here, 100%. The first two years I went I was fortunate enough to interview Gretchen Jones—the first year was hot off of her Project Runway win, the second was while she was still living in NYC, but flew out to support her baby. If you weren't aware, Content was Jones' creation, with the help of other local creatives...
But let's get into this year, which included, but was not limited to, Fieldwork Flowers, Kayla Mattes, Bean Goods, Alexa Stark, Brady Lange, Rill Rill, Portland Garment Factory, Holly Stalder, Emily Katz, Betsy & Iya, Imaginary Authors, Reif Haus, Older Brother, Caesy Oney, Mazama, Caravan Pacific, Trust Co., Kirikomade, and Primal Haunt. You guys, that's a lot of talent wrapped neatly into one little boutique hotel. Just when it feels like this city has nothing to offer but bar culture, this event comes along and reminds me that this town is full of doers: creatives, builders, designers. And I get a happiness that washes over me as I walk down the second story of the Ace Hotel.
Imaginary Authors you had my heart with your phone, site/sound/smell installation. You win my #1 spot.
