.New Finds in an Old Town.

There are at least two events in life that will spur one to extreme possession purging: Death and Moving. Luckily my impetus has been the latter, twice in the past year to be exact.
The free feeling, the breathability, of a house lighter of "stuff" gives me a priceless high I missed out on for years. In my former life as a Fashion Buyer I acquired because I could, and you know...it's all too easy to bring your work home. To be honest though, we really are no longer very consumer-y. (very technical term) Of course we enjoy spending our money like anyone else but generally prefer to spend it on experiences over things. We like quality over quantity when it comes to possessions and like to really think about where our money is going, i.e. mom and pop first, when possible.
All that being said...wave a good estate or antiques sale in front of me and I'm lifted from my feet, led by my eyes like one of those cartoons led through the air by the scent of a pie.
Marblehead has been especially land mine-esque with the come-hither ephemera sales. An old harbor town brimming with hundreds of years worth of goodies waiting to be discovered. It was only right that I bring home some of those beautiful crochet cottons, look at those colors! Like the ocean swelled right up, caught by a breeze and spun itself into thread. Come to Mama.
