Danni Starr Talks Being Mom

Danni Starr is one of those girls that you just know you’d want to be friends with. Aside from being cohost on The Kane Show – along with a zillion fun and spunky tv and hosting roles – she is just plain fun. Tell it like it is fun, but with spunk and laughter built into every word. And today (at 41 weeks pregnant!) she’s sharing some of that fab motherly wisdom with us, along with her stunning maternity photos from Judah Avenue.

SMP: What inspired you to have a maternity shoot?

Danni: I wanted to do a maternity shoot for a few reasons. I had done one for my first daughter and you always hear that when you have the second child you just don’t do all of the same things for them, and I didn’t want to do that. If baby number 1 got a big celebration, so should baby number 2. The biggest reason though was that I have worked so hard this pregnancy to stay fit and healthy and I wanted to document my hard work.

SMP: How did you figure out what to wear?

Danni: Lucky for me I was dealing with an amazing photographer and stylist who had a fantastic vision. I literally just gave my input on color and said that I wanted to incorporate sunflowers and they did the rest.

SMP: Did you feel comfortable in front of the camera? If yes, how do you find that level of comfort from within?

DS: I absolutely did, there is something so empowering about creating life, carrying a baby and embracing it. Yes, It could be easy to get caught up in the fact that I’m gaining weight, but I refused to focus on that. I wanted to lead by example. Workout, eat right, and inspire other women to have a fit pregnancy so that’s what I did.

SMP: What were the must-haves that you wanted from your photographer?

DS: I went into the shoot without a lot of must-have ideas. I told my maternity photographer, Nafa of Judah Avenue, that I just wanted the confidence, excitement and love that I was feeling to shine through in the photos and I was amazed that she literally brought those emotions to life in my photos.

SMP: What are you most looking forward to about being a mom for the second time around?

DS: I love being a mom, I have an almost 3 year old and the journey has been incredible. This time around I am most excited to see their sibling relationship and watch them together. It’s reassuring knowing that no matter what they will always have each other. -What are you most fearful of when it comes to being a mom? The most wonderful thing I have ever experienced is being a mom, it’s also the scariest. Being a mom means being worried about someone else all of the time. I know that I can teach my girls to be good people and to care about the world, but I can’t control how the world and the people of the world treat them and that’s scary.

SMP: If you have one wish for the baby in your belly, what would it be? I wish for this little girl to be healthy! -What are your top 5 maternity must-haves?

DS: A good trainer, a body pillow for sleeping, hypnobirthing lessons, yoga pants and a giant water bottle. -How did you stay healthy during your pregnancy? I stayed active! I worked with a trainer at least two days a week and even hit the gym on my own too. I drank a TON of water and ate as healthy as possible. Most importantly I stay determined to have a healthy pregnancy and I followed through.

SMP: Any pregnancy cravings?

DS: Of course LOL! My cravings weren’t always specific. It was more so that I would crave sweet or salty. Usually the sweet could be satisfied with milk and cookies or ice-cream and the salty with chips and dip. Even though I prided myself in eating healthy throughout my pregnancy, I was ok giving into cravings every now and then because it kept me sane.
