You Can Start Your Diary Now

I keep diary to remember things - special moments, sad moments, etc. It helps reducing my stress by writing it down. A diary works like real life sometimes you have so much to say,and sometimes you think what's it all for? Anyway, a diary is so personal, it just has to mirror your personality. If you just wrote, good morning, and good night everyday, it would ok. Write when you feel like it. It's one of the few remaining art crafts that can defy discipline...which is what natural talent and art does that makes it truly unique and puts the interest and mystery in it for others. You are obviously trying too hard to meet a guideline or an expected "theme" of how a personal journal should be...it's your diary. Write ever day, 2-6 times in one day,or skip a day or two. It isn't a reference manual or a captain's log...it doesn't even have to make sense to any one else. That's why we keep them personal. I don't have a diary online, and I started calling my diaries Journals after I had written for a long time. I was 14 when I wrote my first, I hope you keep writing. It helps with understanding this life.

Typing is so much better for some boys. Some kid is going to have arthritis someday because he types so fast... but that's just how he is. You should do whatever you feel is more personal to you. When you're writing in a diary you need to feel like yourself. So whatever is most comfortable to you is what you should go with. Even if it's fingerpainting... haha.

The upside to a diary is that it is a physical thing. You can carry it around with you a lot easier, and you can "pass it down" when you get older to let your kids see it if you so desire. And also you'll have a sample of your handwriting to look at years later.
The upside to writing on a computer is that you can attach pictures easier (copy and paste - best tool ever made... lol) you can even put in links to websites you like or song's you're listening to at the moment. :) There are pros to both ways of doing a diary, all you've got to do is choose which is more comfortable for you.

Some others would go with writing. Your writing life and social life need to be two different things. It is more personal to write in a diary because it is your handwriting you talking to yourself. If you think of it in literary terms when you write in a book you open and close it that personal time is accessed then sealed again. On the other hand you use your computer for more everyday things. Those kids prefer getting away to do my writing find a space make it work for you.

Summarize your day in your diary...your feelings and emotions...anything new that happened or you learned...when you write down these events compare them to other days and stuff from the past...Ask yourself how is this gonna affect my future. Just write from the heart. Wrting in a diary is a time to be yourself and show your real emotions and is the only thing that you should tell your secrets to.

I have always kept a diary since I was about 12 years old, and trust me-a diary is a timeline that you can go back and read-and laugh at and cry at-it is a history of your life-an autobiography if you will. It helps me sort out ideas. to see clearly where I went right or wrong. many others tend to turn to both poetry and diary to sort out their life. Just remind yourself that it's not about the look of your diary. The most special thing is that you're recording your life inside it, and how will you be able to keep track of everything that's important to you if it's going to be in 100 different books? Besides, it's unrealistic to keep changing anyway...what if one of the books gets lost or destroyed? That means you've lost a part of your diary, and you can't recover that because you won't be in the same situation or experiencing the same feelings if you were to rewrite it. Plus, you may have forgotten all of the minor details.
If you were to finish your diary it would look much better when you are older and reading them start to finish. Plus, it would be easier to keep track of them! Perhaps if you can't stick to it, then start keeping it somewhere where you can't switch...like writing it out on a computer, and/or then keeping it on a usb? All most famous and imporrtant men in history had their own diaries.

If you have time to write down your thoughts in a diary that is marvellous. The simple act of writing in a diary may actually give you more free time by helping to keep your life more structured and organized.
But also keeping a diary may actually have health and lifestyle benefits that are too good to pass up.

Benefits like:
It's a stress reliever.
It's a way to keep memories alive.
It can make you a better writer.
It can help you stay organized.
It can make you more disciplined.

It is really up to you and your personal style, and you won't know how you will want it to look until your start writing in it. I've switched formats shortly after staring a diary a few times. The important thing to do is to take notice of the world around you, the people you meet and interact with, your impressions of them, and also, more importantly, to look at yourself and your actions during the day. Were you happy with what you said/did? Did something you say have consequences you didn't anticipate or want? How can you change yourself bit by bit to become the person you desire to be?

Jimmy (13, Texas) asks:"I wanted to make a little cute book writing about moments that happened in my life and putting pictures to match then. Can i do this in a diary? Or should i just go and get a scrapbook?".. Well, You could use either one... just whichever appeals to you and will work for the sizes and kinds of things you want to add. Or you could buy a "journal" which is a more neutral word for the same general thing, or a sketch book which usually has blank pages and is often used by those who want to write about their thoughts or ideas and also illustrate them or remember physical things about them, etc.
You could also create some kind of "homemade" book and then bind it any way you want, make it any size/type/look you want too. Lots of people do that, "artists" or not. By the way, I wouldn't usually use "glue" on paper pages in a a diary especially (or for larger expanses of glued area), because some glues tend to be too "wet" and may crinkle the thinner paper. Glue *sticks* work well in those situations though, or there are various double-sided adhesive tapes, etc.
