Mandela : South Africa's Hero

Nelson Mandela is a man who has ideals that are intended to be peacefull. Was he a bad man.. No!, has he done some questionable acts, maybe. But under the circumstances some of the acts commited were instigated by the then governing body. Now this is my opinion and I know others will have a differant opinion and I respect their opinion even though i may not agree with it (just thought that need to be said before others get all huffy). Mr Nelson was jailed for his political views and to me that is unacceptable.. this also happened to 100's of others who had a similar view. Yes he wished for the lands to be returned to his people, but I do not condone his method of applying his wish.
Unfortunatly he did not take into consideration the economical impact or the emotional impact of his actions and South Africa paid dearly for his actions. Uprooting white famalies just because they are white and tossing them forceably from land holdings is no differant than how the native Africans were treated. Then just giving those lands to anyone reguardless of the fact that they did not know how to farm those lands was an act of stupidity and an economic disaster. If he took a milder approach and intrigated the white and blacks and encouraged both sides to pursue a method of equal ownership and status in South Africa, then there is a very good chance that South Africa would not have gone through the economic and humaneterian issues that it did.... yes I appreciate that this is alot easier said than done. I also appreciate the fact that i am not South African and do not know what it was like to live there as an African... so I do not fully understand the emotional anger associated with that. Well this has gotten big.. but you do get my general drift.. Mr Mandela is a good man but yes he has done some things that are wrong... havent we all!
He has quite a persona and deserves the honour afforded him by the people who love him. He is considered a National Treasure and a Hero. While he was in prison for 27 years did not mean he was unable to do things or control things from where he was. Before going to prison he was a Lawyer. He is a well educated man. While in prison during the 80 he started meeting with members of NP in order to change the status quo. His being a political prisoner and the fact that people were calling for his release shows what a man could do without being in the constant lime light.
He has never denied the allegations of sabotage but now admits that things can be done by talking. As to his being alone the answer is no, people worked constantly to set him free and to get the rights of the majority addressed. Oliver Thambo was a comrade in arms as was the Sisulus. Thabo Mbeki and the list goes on. Blacks and White, Women and Children all fought and died for the cause. He is the main focus because thanks to that man and Mr de Klerk together they managed to prevent South Africa from entering into a civil war. Apartheid was ended peacefully. He walked free in 1990 and became South Africa's first Black president in 1994.
