Quick Craft: { DIY Leather Cuffs }

Have you worked with leather materials before? This is my first craft working with leather and a few silver studs. I found my supplies during one of my outings at Ben Franklins in Redmond. If you are familiar with my crafts, I strive to “edit” unnecessary steps and maximize my time and yours! Please take a look below for materials and tutorial. I’m SO excited to wear my new accessories!

Materials & Tutorial

I found a new tool from Martha Stewart called “Crafts Screw Punch”. This tool will punch three different sizes of circles on paper, cardboard, foam, fabric, wood and even leather! It is super easy to use. Next, I picked two colors of leather straps (found at Ben Franklins) small bag of silver studs, one silver metallic sharpie, a “galaxy” white marker by American Crafts and two masks. (I used “Mister Huey’s” mask by Studio Calico).

  1. Cut both leather straps 10.5″ inches long.
  2. Set out the rest of materials mentioned above.
  3. Use the pink leather strap and place under the mat (I chose the ampersand shape) and start coloring inside the shape with a silver sharpie.
  4. Use the gray leather strap with the polka dots mat and color inside the circles with the white marker.
  5. Once the ink is dry, use the medium punch circle and punch 2 circles at both end of the straps.
  6. Picture 6 shows how the straps should look.
  7. Fold the strap as a cuff and make sure both set of punched holes overlap together.
  8. Insert the “male” part of the silver stud through both holes and snap the “female” end of the studs inside the cuff. Finally you can use a small hammer to secure both studs.

This project took about one hour total from start to finish! Though I did spend half and hour trying different markers and colors. What do you think? I hope I have inspired you to create a few accessories for spring! My favorite color is the pink cuff, but I think the polka dots one will go well with any outfit! As always I’m super thankful for you and visiting my blog. If you are not following my blog yet please click on the “follow kraft&mint” button on the right column ;) Spring is finally here!
