Beauty Best: Dove Launches Advanced Care Deodorant

Shhh…..we’re talking about armpits.

Here’s the thing: I’m not so down with talking about armpits. Why do we need to discuss them? They exist. They demand to be tended to with razors and deodorants, even though most of us would probably prefer to just pretend they never exist. I’d much rather talk about lipstick than even think about deodorant. Am I the only one?

So when I attended a launch event for new products from Dove, including the Advanced Care deodorant line, I recoiled from the #DearArmpit event hashtag. I was feeling particularly sassy (as per usual), so I decided to see how my Twitter followers might feel about talking about their underarms. I threw this tweet out into the world:

Thanks for teaching me a lesson, Twitter!

Here’s the scoop on the new Dove Advanced Care deodorants.

• There 11 fragrances total
  • 8 are anti-perspirant/deodorants
  • 3 are Clear Tone anti-perspirant/deodorants
• The new formula includes NutriumMoisture, a Dove proprietary ingredient that was first introduced in 2009 in body wash, humectants, sunflower seed oil, and stearic acid
• 48 hour odor and wetness protection
• $4.99 – $6.49

The only fragrance I have tried so far has been the Caring Coconut, which is the perfect beachy scent to pull you out of these winter doldrums. The first full day that I tried it out was on Tuesday, when I applied it at 2:30am and didn’t shower until 9:00pm that evening thanks to a 6am flight to balmy Ft. Lauderdale (and an unexpected return flight cancellation). What surprised me the most was as I was opening the trunk of the rental car at Target that evening, I was still able to smell the coconut fragrance. It still smelled just as fresh as it was when I applied it in the AM, even after spending the day in and out of heat, air conditioning, cold climates, humidity, and more. My underarm area (I’m doing this for you, internet!) definitely felt softer and less irritated than with other more drying formulas.

So there you go! Your wit and humor has convinced me to write about my armpits. It wasn’t so bad after all!
