Faster! Faster!

I feel like every post about running that I write, recently, involves me running faster than ever before. This probably comes off as a bit braggy, and in a way, yes it is.

I am beyond excited that my body, and mind, are allowing me to run faster. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still not fast compared to a lot of people. But I’m not them, and they’re not me!

Today’s 5 miler at under 10:30 per mile. This time last year, I was running 5-6 miles at over 11 min per mile.

In the last year, I’ve become a serious runner. But in the last 6 months, I’ve been working hard to become a faster runner. Working hard.

I spend 2-3 days (minimum) a week doing serious cross-training at Unite Fitness. I’m being pushed to my limits with hills and sprints on the spin bike, or the same on the treadmill if I needed speed work that day. I’m lifting, TRXing, squat jumping, and sweating my total body to new levels of strength.

I’m following my training schedule, which includes at least one day of speed work, either intervals or tempo runs, and focusing on negative splits for long runs. I’m pushing myself, body and mind, hard.

I have changed my diet, and focused on eating whole food. Getting the right balance of carbs, protein and fats. And making it delicious so I don’t feel like I’m missing anything.

I’m sore and tired every single day. And I love everything about it. I love knowing that I’m pushing myself to get better, get stronger, get faster. It’s not easy, and you have to be willing to put your heart, body and soul into making it happen.

I’ve still got a lot of work to do, and I’m all in. Because if you don’t want it, you won’t work for it.

What’s your current training focus?
What’s your favorite healthy meal right now?
Tempo runs or speed intervals?
