Scrapbooking… About Dad!

Since today is Father’s Day I thought it would be appropriate to share a few scrapbook pages I’ve done involving fathers! First up is this “Your Daddy..” page I did for Brielle’s book:

Since there were so many pictures about me and my growing belly with her inside, I wanted to make sure Derek got even play in her book! This two page spread includes favorite photos of them together from the first five months, along with a little journaling of bullet points about him. Ya know, things like his favorite food (pizza), how he loves to count stacks of money (I always give him this job when we have to roll the change) and how he has this silly head scratch he does when he’s excited.

These next few pages are really something special. A few years ago, I decided to take MY baby book that my mom put together for me and save the pictures (who were in those cling albums AHHH!) and put together a scrapbook for her. I tried to get her to help me with the journaling on some events, but as she points out “that was 30 years ago” and she has a slight memory loss on that milestone occasion in her life!

This first page shows some of the first photos of my dad holding me at the hospital. It includes one simple word “Dad” and even has the mask he wore and the ID tag given to him at the hospital in a little pocket. (I know, it’s probably not archival safe, but I tend to break that rule when it comes to memorabilia).

Yep my dad (whom you may remember from this photo at his 60th birthday party) had dark hair on his head and a full thick beard at my birth!

I also love this simple page showing my dad babywearing me in the 80s. I know my dad was always there to protect me, but doesn’t that thing looks dangerous? Basically I was in this cloth covered bucket he wore on his back and I apparently gnawed on the side edges while he hiked around. Seems like they came a long way since the ERGObaby Original Baby Carrier

we use and love!

This last page is one of me and my Grandpa Sal, my dad’s dad. He passed away when I was older so I had plenty of memories of him, including the way he whistled, his catch phrase “Where you was?” he would say when we showed up at his house, and how his house was always full of random collections! The man loved his flea markets!

Happy Father’s Day Derek, Daddy and my Father-in-Law, Jim!!!
