Homemade Organic Strawberry Lip Gloss

I have been on a DIY beauty kick lately. I think it’s because things are finally settling down a bit at home with the girls. June is nursing less now because she is eating more solids, and I have been able to successfully get the girls on the same nap schedule. SCORE!! That means it leaves just a little more time for mommy to do a few things for herself.

I don’t go out and buy a lot of beauty products anyway, mainly because I don’t wear a lot of makeup and when I do, I prefer homemade, natural or organic. Since I was out of lip gloss, I decided to give it a shot and make some myself with some coconut oil I had leftover from the Coconut Rose Body Scrub. Well, I’m happy to say that it came out great! So I decided to go ahead and share the recipe here with you all.

It’s made with just two ingredients – Organic Strawberries and Organic Coconut Oil.

Here is what I did.

Mix a few tablespoons of organic coconut oil with some mashed up, organic strawberries. You want to try to get mostly the juice from the strawberries, but if you get some of the fruit itself that’s ok too. You don’t need much of this because a little goes a long way.

The more strawberry juice added, the darker pink you will get and the more scented it will be.

To store it I just used some Goo Be Gone to take off the label of the smallest baby food jar I had and stored it in there. Put it in the fridge to let harden before use.

If you store it in an air tight container in the refrigerator, the lip gloss can last up to 2 weeks.

Not much work to get a homemade organic lip gloss that smells like strawberry!

You can see the Coconut Rose body scrub I made with same Coconut oil here.
