spring things i’m excited for

The grammar lover in me is stressed that I ended my title with a dangling preposition. But hey, it’s my blog and the grammar police have no jurisdiction here.

Anyways.

This winter was the longest EVER. We all know this. It still doesn’t feel fully spring-y around these parts – it has mainly been around 50 degrees or cooler, but it should be warmer soon hopefully. After this crappy winter, I am ready for some awesome spring things.

1. Flowers/gardening. I have previously mentioned how I’m not very good at gardening/keeping plants alive. But I love having fresh veggies and herbs in the summer, as well as pretty flowers. Our yard is a jungle and we don’t have the time, know-how or motivation to get it under controlled. Plus what are the chances that the weather will be nice enough to do lots of yard work when we have free weekends? But still, my goal is to have a semi-decent looking yard and garden this summer. Hopefully my mom, who has the ultimate green thumb, will be up for helping.

2. Dog walks. Pugs might be the laziest dogs ever, but we probably don’t help with our lack of dog walks and trips to the dog park. -After being cooped up all winter, I think we’re all ready for some fresh air. So I need to drag the pugs outside with me and maybe they’ll actually learn how to walk pretty on their leashes.

3. Activities! I’m mainly a ballet and gym girl when it comes to working out, but I want to do some fun outdoorsy physical activities. There are some great parks and trails around us. We can walk/hike for free or rent bikes for super cheap. I’m the world’s slowest bike rider, but it’s something I can work on.

4. Self tanner. I’m in a wedding this weekend, so I have broken out the self tanner for the season. I am the palest person ever and avoid getting real tans at all costs. That doesn’t mean I want to subject anyone’s eyeballs to my pale, nearly clear legs. Self tanner is your friend, ladies. (I use Fake Bake Flawless, which works pretty well, isn’t too stinky and gives a little natural color.)

5. Wear cute stuff. I do love my hoodies and sweatpants, but it will be nice to wear less than one million layers. I’m gonna go to Forever 21 and buy some trendy cute stuff. And once I’m all (tastefully) fake tanned up, I can wear some short shorts like I’m young person. Holla!

6. Day trips. Reading a million blogs makes me feel like the laziest person everyone. Other bloggers always seem to be going out and doing touristy things in their hometowns, taking day trips, etc. Cue whiny voice – “I wanna do stuff toooooooo!” Well doing stuff isn’t going to just happen unless I make plans to do stuff and then do said stuff. So I vow to do stuff this spring – day trips, local trips, random wineries or (as I keep threatening Jarrod) a covered bridge tour of Western Pennsylvania. Not shockingly, he’s not super into the bridge thing. Sigh.

7. Weddings. I’m in a wedding this weekend and going to an out of town wedding at the end of May. (Also have 2 more weddings later this year, plus my own!) I’m excited to party it up with my friends, wear cute dresses and celebrate with my ladies.

8. Blogging. This isn’t a spring only thing, but I just feel like I have more time since the days are longer, so writing is a little easier. Plus now that it’s nice out, I’m excited to work on my photography more. So I can bring you guys some prettier photos.

9. Eating outside. Obviously we do not eat outside (or do much of anything outside) all winter. And then it’s often too hot and humid in the summer for me to want to eat outside. A nice warm, but not too warm spring day is perfect for some al fresco dining and maybe a drinky or two. And ALL the guacamole. Obviously.

What are you excited for this spring? Also today would’ve been my Pets Are People Too linkup but it’s on hiatus for now. But check back tomorrow for an announcement of a brand new linkup coming soon!
