AROUND HERE

Deadlines are starting to pile up and the studio has been busier and messier than usual. Luckily my intern, Brianna, is back from a summer hiatus to lend a very needed hand in prepping for our fall collection. A few shots from around the studio:

1) Sizing new artwork for a hot metal stamp. In our new collection all of the Tonala Pequena coin purses will be sewn with outer stitching like the sample shown in the photo above. I love how this lets the leather lie flat, allowing the focus of the wallet to be the marble design.

2) It has taken me 5 years and A LOT of ruined clothing to finally succumb to buying an apron. Why was I so late to this party? My new apron protects my duds and doubles as a hand towel, storage facility and oven mitt. It is the best – and all of my clothes, ruined or otherwise, are now breathing a sigh of relief.

3) I have been doing quite a bit of dyeing recently but nothing has come through as quite right for the new season. Very frustrating.

4) Testing strengths of black for the darker winter months ahead (boo, hiss).

5) Working out darker palettes to make our Oaxaca Tote more appropriate for the rainy, snowy season to come.

6) Some Nomad Scarf dye tests.
