MERCAT ENCANTS BARCELONA

(Read about my first day i Barcelona here)

Som jeg allerede har fortalt dere, hop on-hop off-turistbussene som går rundt i storbyene er perfekte for å danne seg et bilde av hva du kunne tenke deg å gjøre de neste dagene du er der, og hvor du kunne tenke deg å dra tilbake. Pekefingerne våre falt på det store markedet, Mercat Encants, så dag nummer to tok vi beina fatt og gikk dit. Å oppleve byen til fots er min favoritt, og du trenger ikke gå mange skrittene for å komme deg ut av de verste turisthullene.

Aporpos turisthull: hva i ALL verden er greia med La Rambla? Jeg forstår ikke i det hele tatt hvorfor dette liksom skal være hovedgata, dit alle drar. Den inneholder absolutt ingenting (som jeg kunne se) annet enn et ubehagelig antall med turister, og “Cemusa”-boder som selger billige suvernirer og annet dritt. For vår del var hele gata oppskrytt og ikke verdt mer enn de skrittene du må ta for å komme deg bort til neste gate.

As I’ve already said – the hop on-hop off tourist buses are perfect to get an idea of what you wanna do and see more of the next days you are in the city. Our choice fell on the big market, Mercat Encants, so our second day in Barcelona we walked all the way down there. To see the city from our feet is my favourite, and you don’t have to walk long before you’re out of the worst touristy places.

Speaking of tourists – what on Earth is the thing about La Rambla? I don’t get it at all, why that street is the “main street”, the street where everyone goes. It’s nothing there! Nothing but uncomfortable many tourists and “Cemusa”-stores with all kind of crappy souvernirs. We thought the whole street was overrated and we didn’t found it worth more that the steps we had to take to get pass it.

Merkat Encants, derimot, var en kul greie, en stor hall inndelt i mange små butikker, og gulv – fylt med alt mulig rart. Bruktgjenstander og klær og antikk og vi fant noen utrolig fine interiørperler der inne, og hadde det ikke vært for at kofferten min ikke rommer et helt skap hadde jeg uten tvil kjøpt mer – det var så ufattelig billig for de fineste møblene jeg kan huske å ha sett!

Markedet hadde et eneste stort speil til tak, så hvis du står utenfor og ser opp kan du se alt som foregår på innsiden – fra utsiden. Utrolig stilig! Og ved siden av er Torre Agbar, det eggformede tårnet med de fine fargene. Absolutt verdt et besøk!

Merkat Encants, on the other hand, was a cool thing – a big hall with many small shops and floors filled with whatever. Secondhand, clothes, old things and we found some really nice interior shops in there, if it wasn’t for my suitcase I would buy so much more – it was so cheap for the most beautiful furnitures!

The market had one big mirror as a roof, so if you’re standing on the outside and look up – you can see everything that are going on inside, from the outside. So cool! And next to it you’ll find Torre Agbar, the egg shaped tower with the beautiful colors. Worth a visit!

Etter markedet ruslet vi videre ned til havna, fikk i oss litt tapas og cava før vi ruslet hjem igjen til vårt lille loft i Carrer de Sant Pau, fantastisk slitne i beina etter en laaaang dag til fots.

After the market we went further down to the marina, had some tapas and cava before we went back to our small loft in Carrer de Sant Pau.
