Wedding Budget Tip #8

This post is part of a recurring series here on BSB – we share a wedding budget tip every Tuesday to help you save money on your wedding! You can also see past posts (and a sneak peek at what’s ahead) on this wedding budget tips page for your convenience and future reference.

Wedding Budget Tip #8:

Choose a naturally beautiful location for your wedding ceremony and reception.

Choosing a naturally beautiful setting for your wedding location can save you lots of money!

How? Well, the more lovely the location, the less you’ll have to do to decorate it!

Want some examples? Most of the prettiest locations to hold a wedding are outdoors, where Mother Nature does the decorating. There are tons of options for low-cost or no-cost wedding venues, including parks and gardens, a family member’s backyard, or other non-traditional locations.

Consider getting married in a public park in springtime. Green grass, flowering bushes — no need for fancy flower arrangements!

Or perhaps you’ll choose to get married at the beach! Have a simple ceremony on the beach with the crashing waves as your altar and some palm trees in the background.

You could even choose to wed on the porch of a private cabin in the woods, overlooking rolling wooded mountains.

In each of these examples, the natural beauty of the location takes over and makes it unnecessary to add extra decorations.

If you do feel the need to do some decorating, remember – simplicity is key. String some lights, gather some potted plants, or create a simple “altar” and let the landscape do the rest of the work for you!

Oh, and be sure to consider seasonality and weather when making your plans — and if you’re planning an outdoor wedding, make sure to have a backup plan in case of inclement weather. (Trust me on this one – I’m speaking from experience!)
