Simple Healthy Green Juice Recipe

You know how it goes around here.

Pastured butter, chocolate, more pastured butter. It’s pretty routine.

So many in the healthy living community are proclaiming more kale and brussels sprouts. I truly have a love for kale and buy big bunches weekly. Let’s not talk about the latter though. Please, let’s not. And there’s Kristin, passing out homemade brownies, sticks of grass-fed butter, and pastured bacon. All that makes life so good.

I think we often loose focus. We get in this mentality that healthy-living looks like a fridge full of kale, quinoa, and acai berry. Only to forget that healthy also means fat, butter, and even good-quality chocolate. Heaven forbid I even say, coffee? All are real, recognized by great-grandma, but far less fun to brag about than a big bowl of steamed kale.

Real food is so freeing. Calories, fat, carbs? No longer with real food. The stress is gone and the freedom, liberating.

Want a pizza? Sure. Real dough, real sauce, real pastured cow cheese, a bit of veg. All made by hand with real ingredients.

A salad? Great. Real ingredients tossed together with real oil, vinegar, and spices. Even add a couple pieces of pastured bacon, if you desire.

Brownies? Absolutely. A special treat of good-quality chocolate and pastured butter is always good for the soul. Made with “scratch” ingredients.

No longer is food viewed as a enemy waiting to attack your thighs the moment it reaches your mouth. Real food brings one to a point where food is beautiful, an art, a celebration, an experience. The way food was meant to be, enjoyed and then used to nourish our bodies.

Today, I’m sharing a juice, a green juice. No butter, bacon, or chocolate. Oh, don’t worry I have more of that up my sleeve. But, a juice made with kale or spinach, apples, lime, cucumber, celery, and a bit of fresh ginger. Even a bacon and butter lovin’ real foodie shares deep desires for green juice. Sweet and tangy, loaded with vitamins and minerals from fresh fruits and veggies make this juice a delight to the senses. A juice I look forward to enjoying regularly and my kids are always eager to partake in.

Enjoy those brownies and butter, but save room for the big green juice. Remember, there’s no good or bad in great-grandmas kitchen, only real fresh ingredients, enjoyed, celebrated, and used to nourish the body.

Print Simple Green Juice

Ingredients

  • 2 apples
  • 1 lime (cut off peel)
  • 2-3 celery stems (include leaves)
  • 1 cucumber
  • 1 inch ginger
  • 2 kale leaves or a handful of spinach
  • Good-quality juicer (this is what I use)

Instructions

  1. Run all the ingredients through the juicer. I like to run the ginger and cucumber at the same time to get the most juice out of the ginger.
  2. Serve immediately.
