Dining Out: Applebee's-Qatar '2 for QR88' Special Menu
I MUST ADMIT. Dining out - or pigging out, must I say - is one my many great loves. So when I was invited to sample Applebee's-Qatar's new special deal called '2 for QR88', I was so thrilled I couldn't say no. And now I'm so excited to share them to all my Qatar-based readers out there!
Basically, the idea of this special offer is getting one generously-sized appetizer and two full-sized Applebee's classic entrées for an amazing price of QAR 88. According to Applebee's, "The menu has been carefully planned and consists of favourites and frequently ordered items. It also provides for the perfect last minute lunch and dinner plans by making appetizer and entrée choices rather simple." And it's great for casual dates if you ask me!
On the '2 for QR88' menu:
Appetizers - Crunchy Onion Rings, Ceasar Salad, Fried Calamari, Mozarella Sticks, Spinach & Artichoke Dip
Entrées - Zesty Roma Chicken & Shrimp, Three Cheese Chicken Penne, Fiesta Lime Whitefish, Beef Bacon Cheese Burger, Southwest Jalapeno Burger, Savory Chicken Portobello, Chicken Fajita Roll Up
Drinks (and desserts) are NOT included in this offer - you have to buy them separately.
I opted to visit Applebee's in its branch in Villaggio Mall and since the special deal was meant for two persons, I brought with me my sister Bianca (of Lil Miss Bianca blog). We share a big love for food so that made things a lot more fun. We've been to Applebee's many, many times before so we're already pretty familiar with the restaurant's aura and with what they have to offer. As we stepped into the restaurant, we were welcomed by the bright faces of Applebee's Villaggio's lovely crew. We were at once attended by the branch manager, Pauline, who made sure that we're loving the food and that our orders were served well. We always love going to this Applebee's branch as the crew are always congenial and helpful.
To start off the meal, we picked Spinach and Artichoke Dip, which was a very tasty, creamy dip made of spinach, artichokes and melted Parmesan cheese. It was served with salsa and a large plate of tortilla chips. Pauline recommended this appetizer as it's "a dish that made them famous."They were right when they said the appetizer was "generously-sized" because it really was. We were only halfway done with our appetizer and we're already half-full - we're not even on the main event yet!
For our main dishes, we ordered two different entrées: Savory Chicken Portobello (chicken breast topped with Swiss cheese, Portobello mushrooms and rosemary sauce, served with garlic mashed potatoes, which we absolutely loved) and Three Cheese Chicken Penne, which is my go-to Applebee's entrée (I kind of wish I ordered something I haven't tried before though). As they promised, the entrées served in this special offer were in full size. We were super full by the time we finished eating and as much as we loved to scoff down some of their delightful desserts, we hadn't managed to leave even a tiny space for dessert. The portions were more than enough - it's a great choice if you want to have a sizeable meal.
It's perfect for casual day and night outs. I know you don't want to miss this special offer!
