Fresh Garden Wedding

This beautiful shoot was created from the blissful harmony of a beautiful brand new venue, The Washbow. Creating an event around the idea of a fresh garden wedding.

The colors of the flowers and vegetables that were fresh from market set the tone. And everything else was left in a unique but neutral palette. The beauty of the natural elements really took center stage and made the day a stunningly beautiful success. Stop by the full gallery here, captured by Tammy Horton Photography to see even more cute steal worthy ideas from this down to the roots fresh garden wedding. Getting a bit peckish? Our models Sandra and Scott are an actual husband and wife who got married in a simple ceremony a few months back, and they were excited at the chance to recapture the moment in photographs. Annie Psaltiras came up with the Groom’s comfortable but classy attire, and Miss Tashina loaned us an amazing custom gown from her collection. The groom’s boutonniere was made with ornithogalum and ranunculus. The bridal bouquet was crafted using a vibrant mix of root vegetables and spring bulbs and our bride, being vegan, said we couldn’t have come up with a better bouquet for her to carry.

We let the design of the garden landscaping speak for itself, using low benches lined with hurricanes and a fabric chandelier hung from the existing pergola structure to create our ceremony space. The Washbow’s library lounge, with hundreds of books and a rolling ladder, was the perfect atmosphere for our bar set-up and cocktail hour – the shelving acts as a built in back-bar! The natural light in the space is phenomenal, and the clean architecture of the interior acted as a stunning backdrop to our family-style dining table. We selected tables and chairs, and some amazing tabletop rentals from Classic Party Rentals. Our invitation suite showcased simple but stylized graphics, and we used the same graphics to create custom labels, which we wrapped around tin cans to intermix with glass vases and votives as the vessels for our centerpieces.

The Washbow has a full catering kitchen, so the next step was to bring in Heirloom LA to envision the perfect wedding menu. Heirloom LA’s attention to all things fresh and local made them a perfect fit. Executive Chef / Co-Owner Matt Poley came in himself to craft and plate the amazing hors d’oeuvres, exquisite entrée selections, and a decadent fresh dessert.

So many weddings incorporate a dessert buffet, and who doesn’t love a gorgeous spread of sweets – but we wanted to do something a little different. We worked with Tobi Tobin to create a Chocolate Bar of her luxury hand-made and locally produced creations. Tobi’s chocolates are beautiful to look at, even better to eat, and fit with our theme perfectly. They would make a perfect local favor for out-of-town wedding guests.

When a bride and groom of mine told me, just 2 months before their own wedding, that they were thinking of opening a wedding venue in Culver City, I couldn’t have been more excited to see what that space would become. As their new venue, The Washbow, neared completion they asked if I would coordinate a styled inspiration shoot as their first “event” to take place in the space. The Washbow is a clean and classic breath of fresh air in our big city of Los Angeles; a true blank slate for great event ideas, with a lovely landscaped garden area. We had a fantastic time coming up with all the details for this shoot, and Tammy Horton captured them exquisitely. We can’t wait to see what events take place at the venue next!
