EMS4 Motor just blew Up! Now What?

Got the S48 up & working (w/o scanner box), OK

Set up & tested motor mounted to machine w/o connecting to carriage, OK (balanced, level no straining)

Ran connected to carriage but w/o yarn, OK.

Disconnected from carriage to cast on & test with yarn got called away w/ motor turned on….

Came back to finish my cast on and needle transfers for a bubble pop scarf.

Heard a loud pop ( motor on but not in use yet) then smoke starting pouring out of the back of the motor housing. Very smelly!

Pulled the plugs every where starting from the wall to ems surge protector, the voltage converter then the plug into motor housing.

Culprit in the motor or the power converter?
Or did something overheat just sitting there turned on but with no call for movement from the foot pedal?

What to do now? Is motor most likely DOA?

Should I chalk this entire machine up for spare parts & start over on the quest for a superba w/ motor?

Only ones I can find are in Europe & I am a little concerned about shipping, my lack of French or German & potential power conversion issues.

Was so hopeful, but at the moment now So very very sad….

Advice needed please.
