i'm alive!

HOLY CRAP!
In the four (YES, FOUR!) years that I've been writing this blog, I've never taken such a long break. Of course, I've never had such a huge change in my life, either. While I've been absent, things have been going swimmingly! I'm thriving at my new job and having some space from the all the weight-loss talk at my previous job, I've found a whole new appreciation for my body, more specifically focusing on making it stronger.
I have so been wanting to share my day to day style here, but have just not found the time in the day to do so. I'm off to work just as the sun is coming up and am coming home long after dark. Now that I'm starting to catch my breath a little, I'm going to figure something out, I swear. Especially because I have so much to share about building a professional wardrobe without spending a ton of money!
Lastly, before I wrap this up, I have to share my most exciting Christmas gift with you:

Gah! I can still barely believe how much I freakin' love this car. It's SO MUCH FUN to drive! Isn't she beautiful! It's my very own 2013 VW Beetle, and I am head over heels driving such a zippy little ride (manual, no less!). Not only is it the excitement of a new car (hello, glorious new car smell!), but it's a whole new freedom in our household. First of all, I was able to buy this car in my own name. Sounds dumb, because I suppose anyone can get a car loan these day, but it felt super empowering and made me really proud to have a great credit score and get such a low rate (god, I'm such a lame adult). Second and most exciting, John and I have shared a car for 10 years. 10 YEARS! That's 10 years of juggling schedules, taking buses, being stranded when the other is out of town, etc. It saved us a ton of money and was the right thing for us at the time, but man, is it nice to have 2 cars! There's a lot less eye-rolling in our house these days. Ha!
So, tell me. What have I missed?! Oh, it feels so good to be back!
