What happens when, on a perfectly ordinary evening, all the things you believed in and took for granted are turned upside down?

When her husband of more than 20 years is away on one of his business trips, Darcy Anderson looks for batteries in the garage. Her toe knocks up against a box under a worktable and she discovers the stranger inside her husband. It’s a horrifying discovery, rendered with bristling intensity, and it definitively ends a good marriage.

———

The lesson of this disturbing dark tale is that you never really know someone, no matter how close you are. Darcy Anderson stumbles across her husband’s horrible secret one night while he’s away on business. They have two grown children together and well over two decades of marital bliss, but what’s hidden inside a box in the garage changes everything. I think the best part of the story was waiting to see how Darcy would handle the situation. There was no easy answer for her.

Jessica Hecht gave a fantastic performance for this audiobook. Her voice as Darcy was sugary sweet and just as I would imagine she’d sound. She also had the right amount of creepy edge to her voice when speaking as the husband. At just over 3-1/2 hours, A GOOD MARRIAGE was a quick listen, but it was packed with suspense. I loved the ending.

Disclosure: I received a copy of this audiobook from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
