Let’s Defeat Breast Cancer. We’re Stronger Together.

On this first day of breast cancer awareness month, I want to share The Estée Lauder Companies’ Breast Cancer Awareness (BCA) Campaign’s mission to defeat the deadly disease through education and medical research. A disease that affects so many of us. Did you know that 1 in 8 women in the US will develop invasive breast cancer in her lifetime?

Pretty scary, huh? And did you know that in 2012, an estimated 1.7 million women around the world were diagnosed with breast cancer?

Having one first degree relative (mother, sister, daughter) with breast cancer doubles a woman’s risk. Having two first degree relatives increases her risk by about three-fold.

Action doesn’t happen alone. It’s up to all of us to join together to make a significantly greater impact.

You can make a difference by donating your time and/or money.

Has breast cancer impacted your life? My family has been affected. When emotional moments hit, it’s critical for me to surround myself with a solid support system. We are stronger when we pull together with family and friends. Let’s pull together this month, especially, to make a difference in the fight against breast cancer that affects millions of women and men around the world every day.

Visit BCACampaign.com to learn more and join the fight. The 2014 BCA Campaign is focuses on sharing stories about how breast cancer has impacted lives. It’s moving to read the personal experiences that are being shared over there and I encourage y’all to take a moment to see what it’s all about. And if you find yourself crying while watching this video here below, don’t say I didn’t warn you. The angle in which it’s filmed feels very personal.
