just me and my adirondack

Well I was all set, beach cottage ladies, to pop in here this beautiful Sydney day (went for a walk with Barls down by the sea this morning it’s still very hot here but gorgeous weather) and tell you about the bathroom saga…it seems nothing is smooth when doing a reno, and this certainly isn’t, we have no bathroom put it that way.

However I decided not to do that and have been pottering around, sweeping outside and fiddling on the deck…I’m still looking for a table for here, at the moment it’s got Adirondacks on it and the small chiminea, it’s ok but needs a table…we had friends over last weekend and we sat under the stars with drinks, the fire and cheese…it’s quite cosy with the old wall and we hung up fairy lights and lots of lanterns…

It’s beginning to look how I envisaged when we first walked in here now the wall is painted, just waiting for the deck timber to fade and weather then I’ll seal it…but it’s funny you know, you don’t realise how much work things take until you start again with an area that has not been shown any kind of love for a very very long time….ie this area needs permanent lighting and hooks and bits and bobs to foofify it…though I must tell you there is one good thing out here…the garden does have an old outdoor shower (in copper no less), it needs some serious help to make it look inviting but man the bones are good, I’ll pop a picture up here soon, I keep forgetting, have quite a lot on my mind lol.

Over the weekend I am planning to put in herbs in a bed that is to the right of this picture, I need herbs in my life and the lack of them is showing…another little thing you take for granted until you haven’t got it, an established herb garden…I have some rosemary, lavender, bay and all the regulars ready to plant…

We have a couple of friends out here living with us in this old place, two blue tongue lizards are very at home in the garden (so far I think there are only two, one is much bigger than the other)…Barley is not impressed with this, they had a show-down the other day, the blue tongue won and Barls scarpered, I have trained him not to go near them but that doesn’t stop him standing guard and giving them very nasty looks and sounding quite scary. Hoping we can all live happily together.

Anyhoo I’m off, I am actually walking down to the shark net beach, getting a green juice and some sushi and going to take some time out and lie on the beach today, don’t tell anyone especially not anyone in my family who is male, to them I am pretending I am cleaning toilets all day. And this weekend I am off on the ferry to the city for a girl’s night out with some very good friends, I am so looking forward to that, we always have fun.

See ya
