Beauty Beat: Dark Lipstick

Dark, vampy lipstick is a makeup trend made for winter, and with all the parties this time of year it is the perfect time to try a new beauty look! I've been committed to oxblood nails every fall/winter for a decade, but I'm taking the rich hue a step further and am embracing a rich bordeaux lip this year.
Dark lipstick in an oxblood or deep wine hue makes women look mysterious and sexy and in control, and I can speak from experience - it also makes you feel fierce! From crayons to glosses to traditional matte lipsticks, there are plenty of dark formulas on the makeup market at the moment. Just make sure to choose a shade that compliments your coloring. I have blond hair and light skin (similar to the top right photo) and found my perfect dark lip duo in Bite's cashmere lip cream in burgundy and Sephora lip liner in pleasant plum.
A couple tips when taking this trend to the streets, line and fill your lips with a lip liner in the same color first, take your lipstick with you for touch ups and don't forget to use a lip brush when applying a dark lipstick or even gloss, the precision is imperative!
