STUDIO HOURS: TRENCHES AND TASSELS

Contrary to popular belief, the jacket as cape trend didn’t start with a French magazine editor. Although that might be the general consensus, I’ve recently worked out that in all likelihood the caped jacket trend actually originated right here in Hong Kong, or at least in some other humid city that struggles to make up its mind about the turn of season, thus requiring you to ‘sort of’ wear your warm clothes lest it be cold, and also sort of wear nothing to allow for when the sun comes out and you’re sweaty almost instantaneously. On that not quite here, not quite there score, it appears the jacket over the shoulder situation oes the trick!

But as you probably know, jacket caping does tend to make it difficult to carry your bag. A clutch is always a good idea in this situation but not that functional for your average Tuesday afternoon, so instead I opt for the carry your bag under the jacket situation, and it turns out this Ril Creed tote is perfect for this.

In other news, last week I had a really fun time hosting a launch event for new bag brand Ril Creed - we used offcuts of leather from their factory to create leather tassels charms for their bags. It was so much fun, although hectic to the point where we ran out for more scissors halfway through. Thanks to everyone who came!
