The Beast (Ch. 2.1)

Wh-,” was all I could mutter. My father just pushed me away. How did he not remember Scarlet? How did he survive? I couldn’t have dreamed it all up! It was not possible. “Faye.” Annie whispered, rubbing her hand on my arm as if to soothe me. It did nothing. “His words were not directed towards you.” She said, “He’s just been very busy when after your accident.” “No…” I shook my head. Scarlet is real. She is my sister. “Let’s get you back to you room. Maybe we can go outside after your wash. Go for a walk maybe. Would you like that?” I didn’t answer and she didn’t say anything else for a while.
When we got to my room, we immediately headed towards to the bathroom, where she stayed to chat. She admitted that she didn’t want to leave me, thinking that something bad will happen to me. It didn’t bother me. I needed someone to talk to. It was a long time of silence before I whispered the word, “Annie?” She was sitting on the edge of the tub, looking at the ceiling in deep thought. “Yes?” she said without moving a muscle. I wonder what she was thinking, but I knew my thoughts where more important. “Where’s Scarlet? A-and why doesn’t my father remember her?” Her red eyes stared deep into my soul. “I don’t know.” She solemnly said. “I’ve never seen a Scarlet enter the building. Faye you may be dreaming up-” Water and soap suds flew in the air. “I did not! Scarlet is real! Scarlet is real and I know it!” Annie paused, her clothes half drenched. “Sure.” Her eyes roamed back to the ceiling, whispering something that I couldn’t make out. “You don’t believe me do you?!” I yelled again! “I think it’s time for you to get dressed, Faye.” She moved from the tub and grabbed a towel. I took it from her when she got close enough. “I can do that myself. As for you..” My eyes pointed to her dress as did hers. “I’ll meet you outside then. I see you can handle yourself from here.” She headed towards the door “Don’t forget to change the bandages.” “Bandages?” I asked but she was already gone. I quickly went to the mirror, not caring if I could slip and break my back. My breath was stuck in my throat. I look nothing of myself. My red hair was shorter, hitting close to my shoulders. My face was puffy. I felt like a fat chipmunk. Underneath my left eye, a bruise was lighting up so I didn’t bear to touch it. And there was the white clothe dotted with blood. Slowly taking it off, I was left with the imprint of the where it used to lay and a scar coming close to my eye. How did I not feel this before? I couldn’t bear to see another second of me. My room looked the same but it didn’t feel right. Nothing makes sense! How could he be alive and she not! Who is Annie? I am missing a piece of the puzzle! What happened? What happened to me? How did I get like this? What happened? What…happened. I ran to my window where I saw Annie standing in the backyard, looking up at the sky. She was wearing a long black coat. “You’re more useful than I thought.”
When she saw me, her eyes gleamed with joy. “Oh, Faye you finally made it!” Her mood changed completely. I thought. “Annie.” Her eyes opened from her animated smile. Her voice went back to the time in the bathroom. “We already went over this Faye, I have never-” “No.” “Then what?” Her fiery eyes burned. I never had a maid act like this before. “What caused me to be unconscious?” Annie shrugged. “I wasn’t there.” She said. “Who found me?” “Vincent.” My heart stopped. “Vincent?” I squeaked. “Was it Vincent? No! It was Roco and Safara that brought you back! Vin-” “Who?” She looked at me confused. “Who are they?” “Roco and Safara? Your friends, silly one.” She said. “Don’t tell me you forgot them as well? Faye how bad of an accident did you get yourself into?” Annie reached out to touch my head. “Don’t touch me!” I said pushing her hand away. “Did they say what happen?” “I wasn’t there to hear.” She began walking down the path to the small lake. “Where were you then?” I followed. “In your room, waiting for you to come back. It was very late. Three AM maybe. You were out late with your friends.” “Does my father know what happen?” “That’s a possibility. Although he never told me, he was the one you snatched you away from them. And I believe they spoke to each other.” “Are they bad or something?” “Not at all. It was mostly you who was up to mischief.” I glared at her. “I don’t believe you.” “You’re right!” She laughed. “You were all good. Never got into trouble. And I doubt they would do anything bad to you. They looked very frighten when they brought you here.” “Probably to put up a show.” But Annie shook her head. “Even after your father left their emotions stayed the same.” A little winged creature flew to Annie’s shoulder. It was the height of an average size peach but had the body of human. The wingers were blue and feathered like as well as her hair. “Why hello there!” I stared at her and the creature. What is that called? It was some kind of fairy but what about those wings? Wings… “Annie! Where are they?” She and the creature turned confused. “Home probably. Why?” “Let’s go.” I ran the path around the lake. “Where are we going?” she screamed after me. “To Vincent’s.” I yelled back. “Do you even know where that is?” “As a matter of fact. Yes.” Hopefully he was still at the same place and hopefully the others wouldn’t be that far away.
I need to find my sister.
