how to style a fireplace mantel // part 1

the best tip i can give on mantel and vignette styling: decorate in triangle arrangements. one thing all the following arrangements have in common is triangles. i know most of you already know the decorating tip about styling in threes and odd numbers. well, you should be trying to arrange those three/odd number of objects in triangles. if you look at any successfully styled fireplace or vignette, you will find triangles.

you're thinking: "this is some Illuminati shit."

i know. don't ask too many questions. just look at the pretty...

this illustrates the triangle arrangement in the simplest form. imagine lines between the sunburst mirror and the statues.

same but they've added a few little objects beneath the focal object for interest.

in this case the series of three art pieces acts as one focal object. and if you have high ceilings- go big. take that shit to the next level.

this one is just slightly asymmetrical. and notice how the imaginary triangle extends to the objects on the floor.

the key to this relaxed chic look is asymmetry combined with layering.

don't forget to use the space on either side of the mantel for maximum impact. boom.
