My greatest mile- week7

Wow we are on week 7 already of this challenge. This year is going by really fast for me, anyone else feel that way? So this week is my best mile. This post won’t have any photos because it’s not a time period of my life I documented with many photos but here is my story

Pretty soon after I got home from my hospital stay after my stroke my sister, who was in college wanted to do a 5k for credit in a class. The family wanted to do it as well to support her and because it was good to do something active together. At the point of the run I was only 2 months post stroke and couldn’t even walk yet, I might have been using a walker around the house but I wasn’t walking alone yet. I didn’t want to be left out since my parents both sisters, my niece brother in law and my husband wanted to do it. So I did it in my wheelchair. My husband pushed me the majority of the time and the little girls were in a stroller, though Bella being 3.5 walked part of it and then they would occasionally sit on my lap. It was good to be included in that 5k but it’s hard to feel I completed an actual 5k when I didn’t do any walking. So I’m determined that at some point I will get my stamina to the point that I can do a 5k on my own. I can do about 1.5 miles maybe 2 before my affected leg just reaches the point of total fatigue and can’t go any further. So I hope to push myself and get my body conditioned to the point that I can do it. I’m just mostly proud of myself for getting out and doing the 5k in the wheelchair since at that early stage of my recovery I didn’t go places very much and was pretty insecure of my disabilities. That’s why there are hardly any photos of me till almost a year after the stroke.

Here is a quote I love though:
