Giving Thanks

This week, quite unrelated, in my mind, to an impending day of thanks giving, I have been realizing the urgency and beauty of being aware of blessings around me and developing a conscience gratefulness for them. Every day, I have much to give thanks for, there is a never ending list...

Highest and most prevalent on the list is my family. My husband who loves me every day, and who I love every day. My sweet daughter, who brings joy and life into our family the way no one else could. These two teach me so much and I dont know what life would be without them.

There are also the circumstantial things, the things that you ponder as life changes. The fact that Rinah has been home for a year (still blows my mind)... That we have grown into what we are today, that we have gotten through some of the hardest times, and that we have enjoyed some of the greatest times. That we live where we do- a place, one year ago, we didnt think we'd be. Enjoying a place we are all thriving in, a place that is quickly becoming home.

Then there are the things that, when I just open my eyes, are all around me, staring back at me... People, who make life sweeter. A warm home. The ocean within driving distance. Books. Our Piano. Fires in the fireplace. Warm knitwear over our ears. All the memories we've made, in a year, that have brought us to today.

“The answer must be, I think, that beauty and grace are performed whether or not we will or sense them. The least we can do is try to be there.” - A Dillard
