wrapping up the week {what goes around comes around}

During the holidays it's easy to forget about what really matters. We're all stressed out with parties, shopping, and decorating. All these things aren't really what the season are about. It's about spending time with those who you love and giving back. Need some suggestions?
Recently, I went to an event that supported Adopt a Pig and I was sold the minute I heard the adorable idea. Children decorate piggy banks for you to adopt, fill, and return the savings back to the program. The proceeds support providing children with cancer a care package as they enter treatment to assist with the physical, emotional and financial struggles that families face throughout the journey. This program is a great way to get children involved in giving back!
I have always been so saddened by the lack of support that veterans often receive. As The Philadelphia Veterans Multi-Service Center puts it, "Our Veterans served this nation honorably. When they come home, it is our turn to serve them." A $25 donation provides transportation to a recently employed Veteran trying to get back on their feet. One thing I always look for is how much of your donation actually reaches your intended recipient, because you would be surprised in some instances how little actually reaches those in need. At PVMSEC 96% of your donation goes directly to veterans services.
I have adopted both of my adorable, well-behaved, loving dogs from the Delaware County SPCA. They even let me dress them up for holidays and act adorably during photo shoots. There are still many dogs that need homes, but when you adopt you aren't saving just them you're also changing your life for the better.
Even if one of these causes didn't strike a nerve, I encourage you to find something that you care about and give back during the holidays. <3 Our Veterans served this nation honorably.
