Dansko Olive Oxford

What’s trim, slim and glimmery all over? The new Dansko Olive oxford, that’s what. This is no clunky-chunk clog (as cute and comfortable as they are), this is a bonafide shoe. The Olive is from Dansko’s Marseilles collection of low-heeled (1″ with 1/4″ platform), tailored shoes with removable, contoured footbeds. See the extra cushioning at the heel in the photo above? Nice!

I love the look of the metallic leopard leather upper. It’s a subtle animal print with a hint of glint, yet remains neutral enough to go with many outfit combinations and colors. I bought my Olives last week and look forward to wearing them as summer turns to fall.

The fit is definitely more narrow than a traditional Dansko clog. I have a medium width foot with narrow heel and wider forefoot due to moderate bunions and tailor’s bunions. The Olive accommodates my foot well, but with no room to spare. I should mention I ordered the size 40 for my 9.5-10 foot. If you are a true 10 or 10.5, order up to the 41. Also, if you have moderate to severe hallux rigidus, the slightly turned up toe might aggravate the condition.

The arch support is moderate, not quite as pronounced as the Dansko Professional clog. The footbed is removable, but I would recommend ordering up a size if you intend to wear the Olive with orthotics. I found the toe box height to be a bit constricting on my hammertoe, but the leather is soft and might stretch out. I prefer the Olive oxford to the other shoes in the Marseilles collection because of adjustability of the tie closure over the instep.

Do you have a shoe from Dansko’s Marseilles collection? I’d love to hear how you like it, how it fits, do you wear it with an orthotic?

The Dansko Olive is available in euro sizes 36-43 for $145 from Zappos, Amazon, The Walking Company, and Nordstrom with free shipping and returns.
