Too Faced Chocolate Bar Eyeshadow Palette Is A Sweet Treat

I generally don’t fancy Too Faced eye palettes because I’ve had a couple in the past and wasn’t blown away by the quality. However, I am such a sucker for cutesy packaging and had to have the Chocolate Bar Eye Palette. Eyeshadows in a chocolate tin? Of course, you need it!

When I first tried on a few swatches at Sephora, I noticed that the texture of the eyeshadows are generally smooth but a few shades are a bit more powdery and prone to fallout. So make sure you tap off that excess before applying. One of the things that bugged me with a few Too Faced shadows is the flaky consistency but I did not experience much of it in this palette except for a couple of colours. The shadows are very pigmented and have a good mix of light, medium and dark shades in shimmer or matte finishes. Some are even quite unique.

The left half of the palette consists of mostly neutral brown toned shades and the right half has a few “fun” colours, such as violet and burgundy. The bigger strips are supposed to be highlighter or base shades. Milk Chocolate is a beigey matte and Champagne Truffle is a shimmery pale pink. Not all the shadows are buttery smooth though. Black Forest Truffle and Candied Violet do feel grittier to the touch due to chunky bits of gold glitter, however they apply over the lids without issues when using a brush. My favourite shades in this palette are Haute Chocolate and Amaretto, both have shimmer and apply beautifully.

All 16 shades are made with a dash of cocoa powder and there is a distinct chocolatey scent. I can still catch a whiff when applied on my lids but it does fade after a while. Smelling like chocolate doesn’t bother me one bit. I’ve asked le hubby to sniff my lids and he just looked at me weird.

You can definitely create a myriad of light or smokey looks with this palette. If you’re on a nude/neutral makeup bandwagon, this is a good addition to stuff into your stash. The tin is pretty solid and has a magnetic closure. I only wish they had printed the names on the actual palette itself rather than the flimsy plastic insert.

You can find the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Eyeshadow Palette at our local Sephora stores for RM149 each. The palette is part of the Spring 2014 collection and I think it’s limited edition but Sephora has pretty good stock available the last I checked.

I’d highly recommend checking it out, and not just swatching but sniffing it too It is so tasty!
