Office Space Dreams

The last couple of years have whizzed by, since taking the leap to go self-employed. I originally worked from my small spare room, with just a desk and usual office essentials. I’ve now had to move into my other spare room which is double the size. But, I’ve still not been able to organise it the way I wanted to. I need shelves hanging, doors attaching, prints framing…and the list goes on!

Storage is a big part of my office. Holding so much stock for my shop, means I have to make sure I instantly know where everything is, while making the most of the space I have. I’m hoping in the near future I can expand my storing area for my stock. But, for now I am hoping to have it all set up in a functional way. My desk currently fits my iMac and a small laser printer. I then have a drawer set with a large A3 printer balancing for it’s dear life!

I often find Ikea answers all my dreams and problems. I definitely need a larger desk. I’ve spied their Linnmon Desk, which is wider than my currently one. I’m hoping to pair it with what I have and have a full wall of desk space. Having free space on the desk is a must for me. As, I’m often having to take quick photographs, as well as needing to be in the perfect position for natural light to shine through.

Natural light is something I’ve gained from moving to the back room of my house. Our house faces a large woods, so we only tend to get light in our bedroom and smallest spare room in the morning. My office looks out to miles and miles of fields, so I don’t have any problem with it being dull. I’d like to add a desk lamp to my desk set up, and again I think Ikea have the perfect thing. Their Forsa Work Lamp is nickel-plated and adjustable, which is perfect for when I’m working till late and need that little bit extra light.

I also really want to create a large noticeboard to go on the wall above my desk. I think it’s going to be a DIY job, as I can’t find anything similar to what I want it to look like. I’m also thinking of a muted grey fabric covered cork board, so I can pin up all my favourite quotes, prints and important notes.
