Apple Picking Adventures

The Grandma Club decided to go apple picking this year. It is something we've been wanting to do for several years and we finally made some time to go to Indiana to do so.

We chose Country Line Orchard; if you don't have children, you should probably look for another place. It reminded me a bit of Disney for apples. Once on the fields, it was quiet, but the process of getting to the actual picking was crazy. Luckily I had a flask at hand. Oh, and they had fire pits where you could roast marshmallows. It was something like $5 for a "s'mores kit," so I just sat down to enjoy the rest and smell.

I don't have any huge plans for these apples yet. I made some apple sauce, but froze the rest for easy winter pies. I considered drying some, but didn't really feel like babysitting my over for 6 hours while they sat. I saw some intructions for air drying on string, but I don't really have a good way to hang them where they won't be in light, dust, or cat attack reach.

Above is our haul of Pink Lady and Granny Smith apples. It is pretty much all they had ready when we went, which is a bit of a bummer, but they taste good.
