c.r.a.z.y. but it's coming together {interior pics #2}

Oh man, I have no good words to describe the last few weeks.
It's been a marathon to put it nicely. :) There are real problems in the world, and nothing here qualifies for that kind of status, but I think it's safe to say we're tired.
And almost there. {These are my favorite words to repeat to myself now... we're almost there, we're almost there...} :D And we're so thankful!!
Good things have been happening!! We got CABINETS!!! That day was magical. :D

I had so much fun with this kitchen {!!!}. I drew these out on a piece of paper and the cabinet guy did exactly what I wanted! So. stinking. cool! It's the weirdest feeling to have designed a whole room from scratch- windows, cabinets, appliances- and seeing it all come to life was crazy fun for me. :)

When I was a little girl- I kid you not- I would lie in bed for hours at night planning in my head how to decorate different rooms in our house from the J.C. Penney catalog. I had different color scheme options for each room and knew exactly which furniture I would put where. Now, twenty years later, designing our house is still my favorite thing. :D

It's a little more difficult when you're on a limited budget and have serious time constraints, but it's still an exciting challenge. :) And it's so fun to see it all start to come together!
I'm in love with how our porch ceiling turned out:

And the shower tile {Rob and his friend Shaun did this! Isn't it lovely?} turned out just as I imagined {and we added chrome fixtures!}:

The texture and paint {Cloud White/ Benjamin Moore} brought the living room so far from the last time I shared:

But the window trim really sealed the love deal for me in there:

Ahhh... :D

Then our electricians finished and we had light!!

Electricity made it like a whole new house- especially when they hooked up the heat two weeks ago!

Rob has been burning the 2-4 a.m. oil to get the house finished for us. That man has more stamina and determination than anyone I know. He just keeps working, no matter what {even sick!}, while I get so tired and crawl in bed curled into fetal position {under the covers, so I can cry...true story}. And then he comes in and rubs my back and tells me we're almost done. I love him to the moon and back. I would marry him 1000000x over. :)

We covered the cement for the last several weeks, but we still ended up cleaning and scraping the floors for hours to prep it for staining:

Even with all of the hours invested, we figured it will be worth it for a total of 15 cents per square foot for flooring downstairs. :)

We still have another coat to go at this point {we ran out of time before another set of contractors need to come in}, but I like how it looks so far:

Walking on clean floors with lights and heat and cabinets made me realize this is really happening! :D Lord-willing, we will get to move in very soon. :)

After much back and forth, we decided to pay for the cabinets to be painted professionally. It was a tough decision, but after seeing all the work they put into caulking, sanding, taping, and painting it was definitely worth it! They have spent many hours and the finish is as smooth as if they were made in a factory. We're so happy we didn't try it ourselves.

We have a few things left to do before we move in, but not too much before we're finished! We are super excited to get to a point where we get to be all together at night and work on the details {and touch-ups} a little more slowly. :) It will also be nice to stop writing checks every week!! hahah! ;)

I'm packing up our cabin as we speak, and the kids are so excited to get their own rooms. They picked out their own paint colors {and did a great job!}, but with all the pictures, I'll have to save that for the next post! ;)

Oh man, we are so thankful for this crazy blessing of a house!

How has your week been so far?

Do you have something you find you used to do as a child that you still love to do as an adult? {writing, singing, etc.?}
As a mama, this is so interesting to me now!
